Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman has warned people not to doubt his side following their 29-3 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
Many pundits expected the 49ers to win the match following their run to the Super Bowl last season, but the Seahawks nullified the danger of quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who threw three interceptions.
Sherman, who made one of those interceptions, pointed to last season's 42-13 victory for his side in the corresponding fixture as evidence that they should not be counted out, and hopes that this latest win will silence the doubters.
"There were a lot of pundits and ignorant idiots who thought we were going to lose this game," Sherman told NBC Sports.
"Don't doubt us. Did they not see the last time we played this team? A lot of things were said this week that we didn't appreciate. We did what we expected to do."
The Seahawks will look to continue their winning start to the NFL season when they face the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
