Bobby Rainey agrees new deal with Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers sign running back Bobby Rainey to a new one-year contract extension.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Bobby Rainey has signed a one-year contract extension, meaning that he will not become an exclusive rights free agent.

Rainey was in line to become an ERFA, meaning that he could have only negotiated with the Buccaneers once tendered, making him almost certain to return next season anyway.

His contract agreement speeds up the process for both parties, meaning that the team is able to focus elsewhere when free agency kicks in next week.

The third year back began last season with the Cleveland Browns, but signed with Tampa Bay following injuries to first choice Doug Martin and backup Mike James.

Rainey led the team last season, with 532 rushing yards to his name.
