Tennessee Titans safety Bernard Pollard has stated that his team were simply not good enough last season.
The Titans slumped to a losing 7-9 record in 2013, missing the playoffs for the fifth consecutive year as a string of injuries hindered their progress.
Pollard has refused to make excuses, instead insisting that the team will look to improve during the forthcoming campaign.
He told fan site Titan Insider: "We have been a team where we have sucked butt. And I'm just being perfectly honest with you. We have sucked butt, and it's time for us to turn that corner.
"Like I said last year and this year, we're gonna knock the piss out of you now.
"It's gonna be fair. It's gonna be within the lines - I may get one outside the lines or whatever - but that's just who I am and that's just who we are. It's going to be a lot of fun doing it next season."
Mike Munchak was fired as Titans coach at the end of the season, being replaced by former Arizona Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt.
