Former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak was fired after refusing to make wholesale changes to his staff structure, according to reports.
League sources claim that Titans CEO Tommy Smith offered Munchak an extension to his contract on almost double his previous salary on the condition that he sacked or demoted more than a dozen members of staff.
The reports suggest that Munchak did not agree with the board's views on a number of issues, including concerns over the team's off-season marketing campaign.
The 53-year-old refused to sign the new conditional contract due to principle, resulting in his sacking on Saturday.
Sources also claim that Munchak already has his sights set on his next job and was interviewed by Penn State yesterday.
