Tennessee Titans general manager Ruston Webster has admitted that it is a "relief" to have parted ways with running back Chris Johnson.
Johnson was released by the Titans earlier today, bringing an end to a six-year stint with the team, during which time he broke numerous franchise records.
However, the former first-round Draft pick endured arguably the worst season of his career last year, averaging just 3.9 yards per carry, and Webster believes that the decision to release him is the best course of action for both parties.
"There's some sense of relief that we're done with it, we're moving forward and I'm sure it's like that for CJ," Webster told The Midday 180.
Johnson is one of only six players in NFL history to have run for at least 1,000 yards in his first six seasons in the league.
