The Washington Redskins have agreed a deal to sign former Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy.
McCoy is expected to fill in as the number three quarterback for the Redskins, with Rex Grossman becoming a free agent and Robert Griffin III and Kirk Cousins above him in the pecking order.
However, the 27-year-old could potentially compete for the number two spot behind Griffin if the Redskins opt to trade Cousins before the start of the 2014 season.
McCoy was chosen in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft and was a regular for the Browns in his first two seasons, starting 21 matches.
However, he was soon employed as backup to Brandon Weeden before moving to the San Francisco 49ers last season, where he featured in four games but threw just one pass.
