Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has admitted that he "doesn't know" what the NFL are hoping to achieve with their rules over uniform.
Griffin was told to cover up his knee brace by league officials during last night's 33-27 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles despite wearing the same brace last season.
The 23-year-old was also fined $10,000 (£6,400) for wearing an 'Operation Patience' T-shirt while warming up for a pre-season match even though injury ensured that he would play no part.
"Everybody in the league [office] kept calling to the sideline saying I needed to cover the brace up," Griffin told reporters.
"I don't understand that. That's why we had to do some stuff to cover the brace up. It was the same brace but it looked bigger because they kept putting stuff over it.
"I don't know what the league is doing. I got fined 10 grand for a shirt. I don't know."
Griffin threw two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter of yesterday's match, which was his first since suffering a serious knee injury in last season's playoffs.
