Great Britain's Lynsey Sharp has claimed that her 800m semi-final did not go as planned, despite doing enough to earn qualification for the final.
Sharp produced a composed performance to finish in second place in the third heat but despite admitting that she was relieved to progress, the Scot has suggested that she can still make improvements.
The 26-year-old told BBC Sport: "I have just been so looking forward to getting that Q next to my name. I am so happy to have done that.
"It didn't really go as I planned, I was in a few positions I did not plan on but the main thing was to stay patient, trust in my coach and it paid off. I live for this stuff and to get into the final is a massive relief but this is where it really starts."
The final will take place on Saturday evening in Brazil.
