Derrick Rose: 'I'm focusing on long-term comeback'

Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose stresses that he is focusing on his long-term recovery from injury having sat out of his country's victory over the Dominican Republic.

Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose has revealed that he is trying to protect himself, having missed the US national team's exhibition game against the Dominican Republic.

Rose returned from a season-long injury against Brazil last weekend, but sat out his country's 105-62 victory, stating that he is looking at the long-term aspect of his comeback.

"Just trying to protect myself, just knowing that this is a long, long schedule and this is the most basketball I'll be playing in two years," said Rose, according to The AP.

"I want to be out there, but at the same time my health is the No. 1 issue right now."

The USA will be travelling to Spain to take part in the World Cup of Basketball later this month.
