Mo Williams to opt out of final year with Portland Trail Blazers

Portland Trail Blazers point guard Mo Williams will opt out of his final year with the team to seek a multi-year contract during free agency.

Mo Williams has decided to opt out of his final season with the Portland Trail Blazers to test the free agency market during the off-season.

The point guard, who has played 11 seasons in the NBA, had a season left on his contract with the Blazers, but has an opt-out clause which allows him to become an unrestricted free agent.

The 31-year-old told The Oregonian: "I'm going into my 12th year, so I'd love to get a contract. This is, in my opinion, my last one. After that, I'll be a guy that's hanging on by the last string, getting my one-year deal in, trying to get as many of those as I can. So this is my last time to get a three-year deal. I've got three good years left in me."

Williams joined Portland last summer following a one-year spell with the Utah Jazz.
