DeMarcus Cousins has been handed a one-game suspension and a $20,000 (£11,950) fine for punching an opponent and verbally abusing an official.
The Sacramento Kings center was ejected from the team's defeat to the Houston Rockets earlier this week.
Cousins punched Rockets guard Patrick Beverley in the stomach in the first quarter of the game, before abusing official Courtney Kirkland in the second half.
Cousins, who apologised after the game, will serve his suspension when the Kings play the Los Angeles Lakers later today.
