Germany's Stefan Hartel has ended Darren O'Neill's Olympic dream with a seven-point victory in the Olympic middleweight tournament.
Hartel peppered the Irishman with a number of stinging shots, with the left hook looking a particularly dangerous weapon in his arsenal.
O'Neill trailed 6-4 heading into the second and sought to rectify that scoreline, but faded after bright start.
The German led by six as they entered the final three minutes and increased that margin to take a 19-12 verdict.
Hartel will now face Anthony Ogogo in the quarter-finals.
