Former lightweight world champions Ricky Burns and Omar Figueroa are likely to meet in Las Vegas in the spring.
Scottish fighter Burns has been linked with a debut in the United States since the turn of the year, but no announcement has been forthcoming regarding his next move.
However, promoter Eddie Hearn has told IFL.TV that the 31-year-old is close to agreeing a deal to face former WBC title holder Figueroa, with the contest likely to take place at a catchweight close to 140lbs.
Burns is looking to revive his career after losing his WBO strap to Terence Crawford, while Figueroa, who is unbeaten in 25 outings, was stripped of his world title after being sidelined by a severe cut as well as indicating that he wanted to move up to the light-welterweight division.
