Amir Khan has admitted that he was "too confident" against Danny Garcia in their bout earlier this year.
The Bolton-born fighter lost his WBA light-welterweight title in the fight against Garcia in Las Vegas five months ago, putting his career in doubt.
However, after an assured win over Carlos Molina last Sunday, Khan has insisted that he won't be making the same mistakes again.
"I was beating him convincingly and then got caught with a shot - I think I was beating him more easily for the first two rounds than I was Molina," said the 26-year-old.
"I believe in myself in that fight. I got caught by a shot I shouldn't have been caught by. Maybe I was too confident, thinking I was untouchable and that no one could hurt me.
"We are not going to make these mistakes again and we are not going to be giving opponents a chance now."
It is thought that Khan will now set his sights on a rematch with Garcia.
