Vyacheslav Senchenko says that he is taking Ricky Hatton seriously and is confident of victory in Manchester tomorrow night.

Vyacheslav Senchenko has said that victory over Ricky Hatton tomorrow night will put right the loss he suffered against Paulie Malignaggi.

The 35-year-old lost his WBA World welterweight strap to the New Yorker back in May, when the referee stopped their title fight in the ninth round because the Ukrainian's eye had swollen closed.

It was his first defeat in 33 fights and he has vowed to avenge it by beating 'The Hitman'.

"The main thing that made me lose against Malignaggi was the bad cut and I lost the opportunity to apply my plan the way that I had foreseen," Senchenko told Sky Sports News. "I got injured and that derailed everything.

"This is a unique opportunity to wipe out the only loss of my career and come back stronger and more popular than before, beating somebody like Ricky Hatton.

"I've been preparing for this fight very seriously and I am convinced I'm going to win. I don't want to make any prediction - that will be shown in the ring - but I expect a tough fight."

Senchenko showed respect to Hatton and said that he does not believe defeat would spell the end of his career inside the ring.

"I don't want to say anything bad against Ricky," he added. "If it's too tough, maybe Ricky will decide to pack it up. If it's a good fight, he might take this challenge again."

The Ukrainian won the WBA strap against Yuriy Nuzhnenko in 2009.
