Michaela Walsh: 'I was cheated out of gold medal against Nicola Adams'

Michaela Walsh feels aggrieved that she did not win gold in the women's flyweight final at the Commonwealth Games.

Northern Ireland boxer Michaela Walsh believes that she was 'cheated' out of a Commonwealth Games gold medal against Nicola Adams in the women's flyweight final.

Adams came out on top at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow courtesy of a split-decision win, with two of the three judges putting the 31-year-old ahead on points.

Speaking after the fight, Walsh told BBC Sport: "It was a close fight but I wanted it that wee bit more. She is Olympic champion and the two judges had it level, but I know in my heart I won the fight.

"I'd like to say congratulations to Nicola Adams, she is a great boxer for women's boxing but I do feel I have been cheated of the gold."

England have now won 50 gold medals at the 2014 Games thanks to Adams's triumph.
