The British pair of Timothy Pendle and Andrew Daniels have scraped into the kayak K2 1000m semi-finals, in a time of 3:18.017.
They will compete in the semi-finals this afternoon after finishing five seconds behind heat winners Germany.
Their time was the 11th fastest out of 17 pairs across both heats. They will go into the semi-finals as sixth seeds, and will need to finish in the top two to qualify for the final.
Irish duo Peter Egan and Simas Dobrovolskis struggled in heat two, finishing in seventh with a time of 3:49.417.
