Australian bowler Brett Lee will play no part in his country's upcoming Twenty20 and one-day series against South Africa after being diagnosed with appendicitis.
The 34-year-old, who has been training with the national squad in recent days, will undergo surgery in Cape Town later today.
Team physiotherapist Alex Kountouris confirmed that Lee's recovery is likely to take "six to eight weeks".
Australia are yet to name a replacement for the Wellington paceman.
