James Anderson confident of making India tour

England fast bowler James Anderson says that he is confident of being fit in time for the five-Test series with India next month.

England fast bowler James Anderson has insisted that he will be fit in time for the tour of India later this year.

The 34-year-old was ruled out of this month's tour of Bangladesh as he continues to recover from a shoulder injury picked up during the series with Pakistan earlier this summer.

Director of cricket Andrew Strauss has said that he is uncertain if England's all-time wicket-taker will be ready in time for the five-match tour of India, but Anderson is more confident of his chances.

"I definitely hope to play some part," Anderson told the Daily Mail. "I'm making good progress. It's a bit of trial and error when I start bowling again to see if I can cope with it. But it feels good and is going in the right direction.

"The issue for the selectors is that there's no cricket around that Test series, so it's not as if I can get overs under my belt. But I don't think I need much cricket. It's not as if I've been out for six months. I won't be that rusty.

"I really want to get on the plane so I can meet the guys when they get to India at the start of November. That is realistic. I've seen specialists and they were on a similar wavelength."

England's first Test of the series begins in Rajkot on November 9.
