Ben Stokes ruled out of England's second Test against Sri Lanka with knee injury

All-rounder Ben Stokes is ruled out of England's second Test against Sri Lanka with a knee injury.

Ben Stokes has been ruled out of England's second Test against Sri Lanka in Durham due to a knee injury.

The all-rounder damaged his left knee during the first Test, which ended in a comfortable innings victory for England at Headingley.

The ECB has revealed that the 24-year-old underwent a scan on Sunday and will meet with a consultant tomorrow to hash out a "management plan".

Chris Woakes has been selected to replace Stokes, and the Warwickshire all-rounder will join up with the squad on Tuesday after playing the first two days of his club's County Championship match against Durham at Edgbaston.

Jake Ball will also rejoin the 12-man England setup tomorrow ahead of the second Test, which gets underway at Chester-le-Street on Friday.
