England batsman Alex Hales has risen to the top of the international T20 batting rankings as a result of his innings of 94 runs in the victory over Australia on Saturday.
The Nottinghamshire opener again narrowly missed out on becoming the first Englishman to score an international Twenty20 century after he was bowled for 99 against the West Indies last year.
He has displaced New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum at the top of the rankings courtesy of the 65 points gained due to his most recent knock at the Emirates Durham ICG.
Hales averages 39.11 in 21 T20 internationals, while Eoin Morgan is the next highest placed English batsman at 15th.
