Alex Hales has registered the highest-ever score by an England batsman in a one-day international after hitting 171 against Pakistan.
In the third match of the best-of-five series at Trent Bridge, England elected to bat after winning the toss and Nottinghamshire opener Hales took full advantage.
Jason Roy departed early for 15 but Hales went on to record the highest score by an England batsman in limited-overs cricket since Robin Smith hit 167 back in 1993.
Hales brought up the milestone with his 22nd four - to add to his four sixes - but after watching the ball hit the boundary, he appeared unaware that he had broken the record until hearing a congratulatory message from the stadium announcer.
However, the innings will be tinged with disappointment after he was trapped lbw by Hasan Ali off the next delivery.
