Moeen Ali has insisted that he "wasn't fazed" after being hit on the head during the first day of the final Test between England and Pakistan on Thursday.
The hosts had found themselves at 110-5 before the middle-order partnership between Ali, who hit his third Test century, and Jonny Bairstow helped steady the ship before they were bowled out for 328.
Ali could have found himself back in the pavilion much sooner, however, after being struck on the head with his very first ball from Wahab Riaz.
"It's the second time I've been hit here first ball - Mitchell Johnson did it to me last year - but I stayed calm," Ali told Sky Sports News.
"I have worked on my technique quite a bit against the shorter and quicker ball. I am still going to get in trouble here and there but I feel like I can deal with it better now - I wasn't fazed at all.
"I didn't play that well in the winter but I feel like I am in good form now. It's going well but I've got some good players to bat around and the tail all did their job - that made it easier for me."
Action resumes at The Oval on Friday with the tourists on 3-1 with three overs played.
