Sourav Ganguly: 'Sachin Tendulkar deserves a fitting send-off'

Sourav Ganguly hopes that Sachin Tendulkar gets the right send-off after the Indian batsman announced that he is to retire next month.

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has insisted that Sachin Tendulkar deserves a fitting send-off.

The 'Little Master' announced that he will retire from cricket after playing his 200th Test against West Indies next month.

His former skipper has urged the people of India to come out in force and show respect to the 40-year-old during those Test matches.

"It's the right decision and he's done it at the right time," Ganguly told The Guardian.

"I am very happy that he has done it before the start of the series.

"I will request the people of this country to come for these two test matches, whether in Kolkata or Mumbai, just to show respect to this great man."

Tendulkar is the highest-scoring batsman in history, amassing 15,837 runs during his career with over 50 centuries.
