Belarusian cyclist Vasil Kiryienka has admitted that he found it tough training for this week's European Games, fresh off the back of competing in the Giro d'Italia.
The 33-year-old came out on top in today's men's time trial event, finishing with a time of 59:36.03 on the Bilgah Beach course to edge out a chasing pack that included Stef Clement and Luis Leon Sanchez Gil.
Kiryienka, who also won May's Giro d'Italia individual time trial, is now unsure whether to take a breather ahead of upcoming events.
"The first week after that race I felt bad and only trained short distances and I was always tired, but I stayed on my bike and from last week on I started specific training," he told reporters.
"I want to take a rest, but I've been told by the team to be ready for the Tour de France. I don't know whether I will ride the Tour, but I hope for a little rest and then the Vuelta a Espana and the World Championships."
Kiryienka's triumph takes Belarus up to six gold medals overall at Baku 2015.
