Team England track cyclist Dani King looking at positives after missing medal

Dani King reacts to finishing fourth in the women's 10km scratch race in Glasgow, where teammates Laura Trott and Joanna Rowsell placed 11th and 19th respectively.

Team England's Dani King is looking at the positives of her 10km scratch race after she narrowly missed out on a spot on the podium at the Commonwealth Games.

King finished fourth at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, with teammates Laura Trott and Joanna Rowsell back in 11th and 19th respectively.

King told reporters: "I made a big move with two laps to go because I didn't want to get swamped. Potentially it was a bit early but I was on Nettie's wheel and thought it was happy days because she's the fastest person in the race.

"I can only take the positives really. In terms of the way I felt, I rode a pretty good race and it's a shame it didn't work out in the end. I've still got the points race to come tomorrow though.

King was also complimentary about her teammates and their performances so far.

She added: "They are always looking after each other. It's Jo [Rowsell's] first international bunch race so we can't ask much of her – look what she did yesterday with two amazing pursuits. Laura [Trott] has been under the weather too.

"We were helping each other as much as we could in terms of not letting anything go away and nothing did. We didn't miss any moves and that was the most important thing. It would have been nice if we had got a lead-out together at the end but it just didn't happen."

Elsewhere, Andy Tennant eased through the 40km points qualifying, but did not finish the final.
