Lance Armstrong has claimed that he didn't view taking performance-enhancing drugs as cheating during his career.
Despite admitting to taking EPO to Oprah Winfrey in a television interview, Armstrong revealed that he still believed he was competing on a level playing field.
The American said: "It was more in the process. At the time, did it feel wrong, no. That's scary.
"I looked up the definition of cheat and it's to gain advantage of a rival or foe. I didn't see it that way, I viewed it as a level playing field.
"I see the anger in people and I'm beginning to understand it. I'll spend the rest of my life trying to earn back trust and apologise."
Armstrong has insisted that he has not taken any performance-enhancing drugs since 2005.
