Martin Adams has admitted that he would have probably turned down an invitation to feature in the Grand Slam of Darts had he not been asked by the BDO.
The three-time Lakeside winner has turned down previous invitations to the event, which resulted in the PDC holding back future requests for him to play, but this year, the veteran will feature in the cross-code event in Wolverhampton.
The 59-year-old told BBC Lincolnshire: "I was spoken to by the BDO just over a week ago and was told I would get an invitation.
"If they hadn't been of the mind that they wanted me to, I probably wouldn't have accepted it.
"I know it will make a lot of my supporters very happy indeed. Hopefully I'll do well and it would be nice to win it, but who knows?"
2015 Lakeside winner Scott Mitchell, BDO Trophy champion Geert de Vos and World Masters title holder Martin Phillips will also represent the organisation.
