Adrian Lewis has progressed through to the last 16 of the World Grand Prix after surviving three match darts from opponent Daryl Gurney.
Lewis was superb in taking the opening set before Gurney, who was already matching the two-time world champion, levelled the contest before taking the final set to a deciding game.
After Lewis had squandered a match dart, Gurney missed the bull for a 170 checkout before failing with two darts at double eight, and Lewis returned to seal his place in the second round.
Defending champion Phil Taylor made light work of Steve Beaton, while Gary Anderson and James Wade also registered 2-0 victories against Brendan Dolan and Andy Smith respectively.
Robert Thornton beat Justin Pipe by the same score, with Kevin Painter getting the better of Andy Hamilton in a deciding set.
Northern Ireland's Michael Mansell beat Ian White, while Andrew Gilding marked his Grand Prix debut with a 2-0 win over Darren Webster.
