Drag Race star Chi Chi DeVayne dies, aged 34

RuPaul's Drag Race favourite Chi Chi DeVayne has died at the age of 34.

RuPaul's Drag Race favourite Chi Chi DeVayne has died at the age of 34 after battling kidney failure.

Chi Chi first appeared on the eighth season of the show before returning for the All-Star edition in 2018, earning her a legion of fans.

In July she was admitted to hospital with suspected kidney failure but was discharged later in the month after dialysis.

Over the weekend Chi Chi was back in hospital with an unidentified illness and in a video message told fans: "Keep me in your prayers. I'll be back soon."

In a statement, Drag Race production company World of Wonder said: "We're heartbroken to learn that Chi Chi DeVayne has passed away today. Her drag spread a message of love and kindness that truly touched each person she met. Rest in power, Chi Chi."
