Arsenal outcast Mesut Ozil is happy to forgo some of his wages in order to secure a January exit from the Emirates, according to a report.

Arsenal outcast Mesut Ozil is reportedly willing to surrender some of his wages if he can secure an exit from the Emirates Stadium this month.

The former Germany international is supposedly closing in on a move to Fenerbahce after being frozen out of the Gunners squad under Mikel Arteta this season.

Ozil had previously announced his desire to see out the remainder of his Gunners contract - which will expire in June - but now seems destined to move on with the prospect of a January recall unlikely.

According to The Athletic, Ozil is due to pocket £7m in wages between now and the end of his deal, but he is open to leaving some money on the table if an early exit can be agreed.

However, the report also states that the 32-year-old will remain in North London and continue to take part in training sessions if he ends up staying this month, although talks over his contract being terminated are ongoing.

Ozil has talked up a move to Fenerbahce amid speculation regarding a move to the Super Lig, and the former Real Madrid man has also revealed that he wants to play in the United States before hanging up his boots, with DC United being linked with an approach.
