Jose Mourinho unsurprised by Cesc Fabregas form

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho claims that he knew summer signing Cesc Fabregas would enjoy a productive return to English football.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has said that he is unsurprised by how well Cesc Fabregas has performed since joining the club.

Fabregas has proved instrumental in Chelsea's early-season form, bagging four assists in three Premier League outings as the Blues ended August at the top of the table with maximum points.

It is the Spaniard's second stint in English football following an eight-year spell with Arsenal, which Mourinho claims is the reason behind his productive form.

"He doesn't need to adapt," he told reporters. "This is a league that he knows, that he had played in for years [with Arsenal]. He was moulded there.

"When he came to Chelsea he was very happy to come back to this league.

"When a boy is happy, he doesn't suffer any kind of pressure, he knows that his coach trusts him, knows that his mates admire him, feels important – [his form is] not a surprise to me."

Mourinho and Fabregas host co-leaders Swansea City on September 13.
