Pedro: 'Jose Mourinho was key to Chelsea move'

Pedro claims that the chance to work with Jose Mourinho was a key factor in his decision to join Chelsea.

Pedro has revealed that the opportunity to play under Jose Mourinho was a key factor in his decision to join Chelsea.

The Premier League champions confirmed the arrival of the Spaniard from Barcelona in a reported £21.4m deal after the World Cup winner had been repeatedly linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks.

Despite the success he achieved at Camp Nou, Pedro admits that he never had any second thoughts about a switch to Stamford Bridge after a glowing reference from Cesc Fabregas.

"[Mourinho] is one of the main reasons why I'm here. He phoned me a few times and said he needed me to make the team stronger," he told the club's official website.

"He has won titles wherever he has been. I am really looking forward to playing under him and hopefully winning more titles.

"I spoke to Cesc. We are very good friends. I knew I would feel at home here and that was one of the main reasons why I decided to join."

Pedro could make his debut against West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.
