Borussia Monchengladbach 'close in on Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen'

Borussia Monchengladbach reportedly make a club-record £15.1m bid for 20-year-old Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen.

Borussia Monchengladbach have reportedly submitted a club-record bid for Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen.

The 20-year-old moved to Stamford Bridge from Brondby in 2014, but made just three first-team appearances for the club before being sent on a two-year loan to Monchengladbach.

Christensen impressed during his debut campaign in the Bundesliga, and Bild now reports that Gladbach are willing to make him their record signing.

The German outfit are thought to have made a £15.1m bid for the Denmark international, although Chelsea are holding out for £18.4m for the youngster.

Christensen made 31 Bundesliga appearances for Monchengladbach last season to help them to a fourth-place finish.
