Report: Mohamed Salah's Chelsea future in doubt

A report claims that the future of Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah is in doubt after news emerged that he may be forced to return to Egypt for military service.

Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah's future at the club is reportedly in doubt as he may be forced to return to Egypt to complete military service.

The 22-year-old, who joined the Blues from Basel in January, is allowed to live in England on the basis of his participation in an educational programme, according to the London Evening Standard.

However, the same report states that the player's registration to the programme has been rescinded by the Minister of Higher Education in Egypt, which could mean that he may have to return to his homeland.

Should that happen, it is said that Salah would not be allowed to leave Egypt until the completion of a period of military service, which can range from between 12 months to three years.

"Salah has expressed his shock about the decision," Ahmed Hassan, Egyptian National Team director, is quoted as saying in the article. "He told me that he is trying to represent Egypt in the best way possible. Is this the best response from the country?"

Salah made 10 appearances for Chelsea last season, scoring two goals.
