Mile Jedinak wary of Marcus Rashford threat

Australia captain Mile Jedinak admits that he is wary of the threat posed by England new boy Marcus Rashford ahead of their friendly at the Stadium of Light.

Australia captain Mile Jedinak has acknowledged that Marcus Rashford could pose a threat to his side when they face England at the Stadium of Light on Friday.

The 18-year-old striker is expected to be handed his international debut in Sunderland just 92 days after making his Manchester United bow, with Daniel Sturridge struggling with injury and Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy both being rested.

Jedinak has come up against the youngster at club level twice in the last month - in the Premier League and the FA Cup final - and he paid tribute to Rashford's meteoric rise since bursting onto the scene.

"Obviously I've played against him recently and he's done fantastically well," the Crystal Palace skipper told reporters.

"We've all seen his rapid rise in the last few months and it's a credit to the boy that he's been put in this situation and is handling himself really well.

"It'll be another test for him tomorrow night, if he's given the opportunity. But we've been preparing for this game as we would normally, without getting too caught up with individuals."

Should Rashford start then it will be his last chance to impress Roy Hodgson before the England boss finalises his 23-man squad for Euro 2016.
