Los Angeles Galaxy announce that they have decided against renewing the contract of former Arsenal and Chelsea defender Ashley Cole.

Los Angeles Galaxy have decided to release former England international Ashley Cole.

The left-back has spent the last three seasons in the MLS, and 30 starts and one substitute outing were made during the most recent campaign.

However, LA Galaxy have revealed that Cole is one of eight players who will not be offered a new contract at the west coast outfit.

The ex-Arsenal and Chelsea defender - who turns 38 years of age in December - is now available on a free transfer ahead of the January window.

Cole has not featured in English football since leaving Chelsea for Roma in 2014.
