Daniel Agger: 'I belong in Liverpool team'

Daniel Agger claims that he is back where he belongs after being recalled to the Liverpool team at the weekend, following a month on the sidelines.

Daniel Agger believes that he deserved his recall to the Liverpool team this weekend and says that he will do everything in his power to stay there.

The Dane returned to the Reds' starting XI for their 4-0 victory over Fulham at Anfield after returning from injury to find himself out of favour for over a month.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers preferred to employ Martin Skrtel, Kolo Toure and Mamadou Sakho as his central defenders in his 3-5-2 formation before restoring Agger to the side on Saturday.

His regular omission throughout October led to speculation over the 28-year-old's future, but Agger has insisted that he is happy to stay on Merseyside as long as he can contribute to the team.

"It is difficult to describe but I want to play all the time, every single game," he told reporters. "When you are not playing that is difficult but, while that is sad, I just try to work even harder every single day in training, not complaining just doing everything a bit extra.

"I am more than capable of being in the team - I feel I belong there - but it is the manager's decision and sometimes that is difficult to change in training.

"You need to grab the chance when it is there - that is what football is all about. I know I am here and as long as I am doing everything I can to be in that team, and I feel I am good enough and the manager can use me, then I'll be here."

Agger was one of several centre-backs to be linked with a move to Spanish giants Barcelona this summer.
