Brendan Rodgers: 'Alberto Moreno has huge potential'

Brendan Rodgers claims that Alberto Moreno has "huge potential" following the defender's £12m transfer to Liverpool from Sevilla.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has claimed that Alberto Moreno has "huge potential" following the defender's move from Sevilla.

The Spanish international, 22, joined the Merseysiders on Saturday on a long-term contract after a £12m fee was agreed between the two clubs.

Rodgers is now looking forward to watching the youngster develop during his time at Anfield.

"Alberto is a player with huge potential, but importantly he is also ready to come in and contribute straight away," he told the club's official website. "He is quick, strong and serves the ball really well.

"We have monitored him in Spain for some time and every time I have seen him I have been greatly impressed. What is also important is that he is hungry to improve and recognises it is vital to keep learning."

Despite finalising his switch to Liverpool, Moreno is unavailable to feature in the team's Premier League encounter at home to Southampton on Sunday.
