Klopp: 'Man City clear title favourites'

Jurgen Klopp believes that Manchester City are "definitely the favourites" to win the Premier League title after further strengthening their squad this summer.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has labelled Manchester City as Premier League title favourites after admitting to being blown away by their summer spending.

The Citizens have strengthened their squad on the back of last season's third-place finish by bringing in Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy, Bernardo Silva, Danilo, Douglas Luiz and Ederson.

After spending more than £200m to overhaul their squad, Klopp expects City to bridge the 15-point gap to champions Chelsea, while also hailing the early impact made by young Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus in 2016-17.

"The favourites must be Manchester City actually. They played some incredible football last year and had just a couple of problems," he told DAZN. "They are definitely the favourites. Manchester City is in attack mode, that is obvious.

"They already had an incredible team last season and then Jesus joined them and I thought, 'Oh my goodness'. I mean he is very young and really strong. Incredible player – and now they got some defenders as well. They will be interesting to watch.

"We will see how Chelsea will do without [Diego] Costa. [Alvaro] Morata is a great signing but they also lost [Nemanja] Matic. We will see.

"They still have a pretty great team. We will have to align. Not subordinate and then on the specific days [against the league's best teams] we have to be there and try to beat them, but also try to get as many points as possible out of the other matches."

Liverpool begin their Premier League campaign with a trip to face Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday lunchtime.
