Germany's Joachim Low hopeful Bastian Schweinsteiger will be fit for Euro 2016

Germany head coach Joachim Low is hopeful that Bastian Schweinsteiger will be fit for the start of Euro 2016.

Germany head coach Joachim Low has not given up hope of Bastian Schweinsteiger being fit for Euro 2016.

The Manchester United midfielder has been ruled out for the rest of the domestic season with knee ligament damage.

The World Cup winner suffered the injury while on international duty, and despite the tournament getting underway in just over seven weeks' time, Low believes that Schweinsteiger could be part of the squad.

"At the moment, I'm still full of hope that he will be ready by the start of the European Championship," Low told Eurosport. "He always lets me know how he's getting along."

The midfielder has earned 114 caps for his country.
