Jose Mourinho has suggested that he could have no complaints after being sacked as Manchester United boss last year.
After a poor first half to the campaign, Mourinho was removed from his position in December, initially being replaced by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on a caretaker basis before the Norwegian was handed a long-term deal.
However, United have arguably failed to improve since the Portuguese's exit, with the North-West giants only in eighth position in the Premier League standings after Sunday's defeat to West Ham United.
While acknowledging that he 'probably deserved' to lose his role at Old Trafford, Mourinho feels that United are performing worse than 10 months ago.
Mourinho told Sky Sports News: "They are far behind. It's difficult for me to answer. I was there for two seasons where I could feel lots of positive things and I could feel the direction to go in, then obviously the third season was not good enough.
"I was sacked, I probably deserved to be sacked because I was responsible as the manager, but the sad reality is that they are worse than before, and for me that is a sad thing. Maybe people think I'm enjoying the situation but I'm not enjoying it at all."
United return to Premier League action next Monday when they host Arsenal.
