Marcus Rashford called up for England Under-21s

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford is included in England's Under-21 squad for their European Championship qualifier against Norway.

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has been called up to England's Under-21 squad for their European Championship qualifier against Norway next month.

The 18-year-old burst onto the scene in the tail end of last season before earning a call-up to Roy Hodgson's squad for Euro 2016, bypassing the Under-21s.

However, the forward has since fallen behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the pecking order at Old Trafford and must now settle for Under-21 international football for the first time.

Everton full-back Mason Holgate also earns a debut call-up to Gareth Southgate's squad, while Arsenal pair Calum Chambers and Rob Holding are included amongst the defenders.

England currently sit top of their qualification group with three games to go, although Switzerland and Norway are breathing down their necks.

England Under-21 squad to face Norway:

Goalkeepers: Angus Gunn (Manchester City), Jordan Pickford (Sunderland), Joe Wildsmith (Sheffield Wednesday)

Defenders: Calum Chambers (Arsenal), Ben Chilwell (Leicester City), Brendan Galloway (West Bromwich Albion, loan from Everton), Kortney Hause (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Rob Holding (Arsenal), Mason Holgate (Everton), Dominic Iorfa (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Matt Targett (Southampton)

Midfielders: Lewis Baker (Vitesse Arnhem, loan from Chelsea), Nathaniel Chalobah (Chelsea), Isaac Hayden (Newcastle United), Will Hughes (Derby County), Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Chelsea), John Swift (Reading), James Ward-Prowse (Southampton)

Forwards: Demarai Gray (Leicester City), Jack Grealish (Aston Villa), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United), Nathan Redmond (Southampton), Dominic Solanke (Chelsea), Duncan Watmore (Sunderland)
