Man United's Louis van Gaal not threatened by Pep Guardiola's arrival in England

Louis van Gaal says that he does not feel as though his job as Manchester United manager has been threatened by Pep Guardiola's desire to coach in England.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has insisted that he is 'not interested' in suggestions that his job could be in trouble due to Pep Guardiola's desire to coach in the Premier League.

Guardiola recently revealed that he decided to end his spell at Bayern Munich because he has plans to manage in England.

Widespread reports have claimed that the Spanish coach, who has won 19 trophies in his eight years of management, will arrive at Manchester City in the summer, but Chelsea and Manchester United have also been linked to the 44-year-old.

Due to United's lacklustre season so far, Van Gaal's position at Old Trafford has come into question, but the Dutchman is not concerned by the rumours of Guardiola's arrival.

"It's not for sure he will be the manager of a Premier League club next season," Van Gaal told reporters in Friday's press conference. "I'm at the end of my career, so for me it's not so interesting. For me it's interesting how I take care of Manchester United, and after this season I still have one year to go.

"I said that two years ago [that Guardiola would come to England]. It's not so strange. You have to set always your goals, as a manager also.

"Some people might look at that a little bit strangely, but managers have ambitions to and he wants to sniff the culture of England. I wanted that also and I think that it's very good he wants to do that."

United are currently fifth in the league table, three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
