Dani Alves: 'Pedro must follow his heart'

Barcelona defender Dani Alves admits that he would understand teammate Pedro's reasons for wanting to join Manchester United this summer.

Dani Alves has called on Barcelona teammate Pedro to 'listen to his heart' as the attacker faces a crunch week in terms of his long-term future.

The Spaniard has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United this summer after losing his starting role at Camp Nou last season.

Alves says that he is desperate for Pedro to remain at Barca, but would understand if the 28-year-old decided to seek pastures new.

"Ultimately the decisions don't come to me, they are for other people," Alves told reporters.

"The more people interfere, the harder the decision is. Of course if I had to make the decision it would be for him to stay here for many more years.

"It's down to him and his heart but if he stays we'll be delighted, if not we'll respect his decision. If you feel you're not wanted at a club you have to go. Let's hope he doesn't make that decision."

Pedro, whose future should be decided this week, is expected to start Tuesday's European Super Cup against Sevilla.
