Fiorentina allegedly reject Manchester United's loan offer for midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, which would have seen the Italian side only guaranteed €1m.

Fiorentina have reportedly rejected Manchester United's loan offer for midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

The Red Devils, following weeks of speculation, have allegedly now engaged in talks with Fiorentina over a deal for the Morocco international before the end of the transfer window.

However, the 20-time English champions are attempting to navigate the Financial Fair Play rules, meaning that there is not much for the club to play with in the latter stages of the market.

Man United are said to have approached the Italian side on Wednesday with a loan offer for the 27-year-old.

According to The Athletic, Fiorentina have turned down the bid, with the Serie A team still holding out for the permanent sale of a player who they value at €35m (£30m).

The report claims that Man United's loan proposal would have seen €2m (£1.7m) payable in two €1m (£860k) instalments, but there would be a break clause which would be effective in January.

As a result, Fiorentina would only be guaranteed €1m (£860k), and the Serie A side quickly turned down the bid.

While a permanent sale at this stage remains their first-choice outcome, it is alleged that the club would be willing to discuss a loan departure, providing that an obligation to buy was included.

The two teams are set to continue discussions on Thursday with a view to coming to an agreement before the deadline on Friday evening.

Amrabat's future has been the subject of much speculation this summer, with a number of clubs said to have been interested in securing his signature.

Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Liverpool are among the teams to be linked with him, but it is understood that the Moroccan has been holding out for a move to Old Trafford.

Amrabat played a leading role in his country reaching the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup, while he made 49 appearances for Fiorentina last season, as the Purples made the final of the Coppa Italia and Europa Conference League.

Man United have boosted their midfield department this summer with the signing of Mason Mount, but the England international is currently on the sidelines through injury.
