Henrik Larsson: 'Victor Lindelof would thrive at Manchester United'

Former Manchester United striker Henrik Larsson backs Victor Lindelof to impress in England if the Benfica defender completes a move to Old Trafford.

Former Manchester United striker Henrik Larsson has claimed that Victor Lindelof would thrive at Old Trafford if the Benfica defender made the move to the Premier League in the January transfer window.

It is widely thought that Man United have agreed a £38m deal with Benfica for the transfer of the 22-year-old, who was pictured signing the English club's shirt for a supporter last week.

Larsson played for the Red Devils during the 2006-07 campaign, and the former forward is confident that Lindelof would be a success in English football due to the experience he has gained in the Benfica first team.

"He is already playing at a high level, so he's prepared for a club like Manchester United," Larsson told DN. "He is at a club like Benfica and he is also a first choice for Sweden.

"It's going to be a case of adapting to a different style of football. I think the Swedes are very prepared as a people to take on any kind of challenge and it will not be difficult for Lindelof to adapt to the style of English football."

Lindelof, who has been personally recommended by Man United forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic, joined Benfica from Vasteras SK in 2012 and initially represented the Portuguese side's B team, before stepping into the first-team picture in 2015. Last summer, the Sweden international extended his contract until 2020.
