Les Ferdinand: 'Queens Park Rangers looking for defenders'

Director of football Les Ferdinand admits that Queens Park Rangers are looking to sign some new defenders.

Les Ferdinand has revealed that Queens Park Rangers are in need of reinforcements in defence.

The R's have been relatively busy in the transfer market this summer following the arrivals of Massimo Luongo, Ben Gladwin, Jamie Mackie, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Sebastian Polter.

However, director of football Ferdinand has confirmed that more new faces are still needed, primarily "at the back".

"We know there are still areas of the squad that we need to strengthen and we're working hard to get deals done," he told the club's official website.

"Our main focus is on strengthening at the back. We're well aware that we're quite light on numbers in that area.

"We know what we need to do and what kind of players we want and we'll continue to work hard to get some sensible deal done as soon as possible."

The West Londoners have recently been linked with a move for former Newcastle United defender Ryan Taylor.
