Reading forward Adam Le Fondre believes that the Royals will avoid relegation this season if they continue to perform as they did during last week's 4-3 defeat to Manchester United.

Reading forward Adam Le Fondre has insisted that the Royals can avoid relegation this season if they continue to perform as they did during last week's 4-3 defeat to Manchester United.

Brian McDermott's men currently sit 19th in the Premier League table, four points from safety.

The defeat to the Red Devils was Reading's seventh loss in 14 games, however Le Fondre believes that the match was full of positives for his side, who travel to relegation rivals Southampton on Saturday.

"I think we can take heart from the performance and take it into the coming games," Le Fondre told the club's official website.

"Every game is important in this league and every game is a tough test. But if we play against Southampton like we did on Saturday then we'll be okay."

Le Fondre has scored four goals in 14 top-flight appearances this season.
