Real Madrid have confirmed that James Rodriguez has undergone surgery on his foot after he suffered an injury during his side's victory over Sevilla on Wednesday evening.
The Colombian international scored the opening goal in the Spanish giants' 2-1 win at the Bernabeu.
However, he couldn't celebrate after the game as he was taken off with a broken metatarsal in his right foot, which some reports have claimed will keep him on the sidelines for two months.
A statement on Madrid's official website said: "James Rodriguez has undergone surgery on the fracture he suffered in the fifth metatarsal in his right foot.
"The operation was a complete success and was carried out by Doctor Mariano de Prado under the supervision of Doctor Jesus Olmo, the Real Madrid doctor."
While the club have not issued a timescale for Rodriguez's recovery, he has been ruled out of Saturday's clash against local rivals Atletico Madrid.
